The New Web Site Is Up and Running
The new Library web site has been up and running for several weeks now – and I’ve been so busy tweeking it that I forgot to even mention it here. Surprisingly, it went up without a hitch and has been working ever since. I still have dozens of back pages to update, but most of the frequently viewed pages have the new look and feel to them. While it is certainly more professional looking, it’s amazing how many folks miss the old page. The first thing my husband said was that he missed the “yellow sun” icon that linked to the local weather. I mentioned that the weather was still on the front page, but it actually had a link that said “local weather” rather than a yellow circle. He still didn’t like it! I miss having space to put graphics and photos to go along with our programming on the front page. We only have about half the space for promoting current library events, as compared to our old page. On the positive side, our patrons wanted lots of “lists” and we certainly have those in a prominent place. We also have a “How Do I” section and a new link to Plymouth History. Everything considered, it’s a long-overdue change and I need to continue to improve it a bit at a time.
