Internet Librarian Preconferences – Day 2

I was happily surprised this morning when I found a continental breakfast had been prepared for those of us attending the preconferences.  After consuming a banana and bran muffin, I headed off for a full morning of Podcasting & Videocasting Boot Camp.  The two Davids (David Lee King and David Free) presented a fast-paced and informative session on how to create, edit, save, and upload both audio and video to the web.  We used Audacity, a free program used for creating podcasts, and iMovie for making our videocast.  After going over examples of how libraries use these tools for training, booktalks, and public relations, we actually make a video and a podcast right there in class.  David Free put the podcast on his blog – and I’m in it!  THis was a great “hands on” session and I’m ready to go back to the Library and start working with the software.
