Feeling the holiday blues
Christmas is almost upon us and I’m still mapping out the stuff I have yet to do. My granddaughter’s sweater is only half done. No baking done yet. I haven’t started wrapping presents, and the house is only partially decorated. Where have I been these past weeks – not loafing on the beaches of Florida, that’s for certain! I get myself into this last minute pinch each year and promise to do better the next. Yet here I am once again. It would be easy to blame the weekends lost at my mother-in-law’s funeral, or moving my son and daughter-in-law in Virginia, but I did those with a willing heart and would not have missed them. No, I blame it on the hours spent on the sofa playing computer games, tweaking Twitter, or indexing vital records for the LDS Family Search project. During those hours I used the “Tomorrow is another day” mentality. It may have worked for Scarlett O’Hara, but it didn’t get me any closer to being ready for Christmas! Bah, Humbug – – please, please Santa – – Send me a Wii so I can fritter away more time in the new year.
